The ÃÛÌÒTV offers a range of additional funding to enhance your University experience and support you throughout your time here. We also offer a wide range of merit and competitive scholarships to offset the costs of your studies. Many are for international students, with some also available to UK students. The University is providing a discretionary grant to help students who are unable to access the technology they need to successfully engage with their course.
Eligibility criteria
Currently enrolled and attending University and one or more of the following :

Set contribution
You may request one or more items of hardware or software in your application. The Technology Fund provides a set contribution towards each item with a maximum award of £300. Funds are limited, so please think carefully about which item(s) is a priority and also consider fixing your existing equipment.

The University is providing a discretionary grant to help students with health costs, which cannot be reasonably addressed by the NHS or University health services, and are necessary to engage with their course.
Eligibility criteria
Currently enrolled (If you are on a Pause in ÃÛÌÒTV due to medical reasons, you are still eligible) and one or more of the following:

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria but are struggling financially, you may want to consider applying to the Student Support Fund for cost of living support as this is a much more comprehensive assessment which looks over the whole academic year.
Set contribution
The below are options available for you to apply for funding support for. Students are able to receive a maximum of £500 per academic year.
If you have multiple health needs, it may be more beneficial to apply to the Student Support Fund, so an advisor can review your circumstances in full.

We cannot provide funding for private ADHD tests, please speak to Student Disability & Inclusion at studenthub@soton.ac.uk if you suspect you may have ADHD as they can advise the process on receiving a working diagnosis to allow you to access support in your studies.

Eligible students are also entitled to our Care Leaver & Estranged Student Bursary of £2,000. This is payable to you in two instalments, the first payment is made in November and the second is made in June. Additionally, to aid in your transition to the University, eligible students in their first year of study are provided a Welcome Pack containing vouchers and useful information to help you settle in.
This extensive 3-year, Alumni funded programme is available to students from underrepresented backgrounds and offers a blend of financial, academic, career, and personal opportunities to ensure you reach your full potential.

OurÌýCommuter FundÌýis intended to support living at home students, from widening participation backgrounds, with the cost of their daily commute to university.
The Commuter Fund provides a non-repayable financial contribution of up toÌý£250 per academic yearÌýto help towards daily travel costs. Find more information on the webpage .
Limited funding is currently available for the 24/25 academic year on a first come, first served basis.
This bequest may be used to support undergraduate or postgraduate students currently registered at the ÃÛÌÒTV who wish to participate, either individually or as part of a group in expeditions.
To be eligible to apply students must be able to demonstrate that they are undertaking an organized journey with a specific and clear objective. It should be challenging and at a location away from an urbanized and modern settlement (such as a town or city).
The bequest cannot be used to support participation in fieldwork or in medical electives. There is a limited amount of money available, and students may be eligible to receive up to £1000 in support for the academic year. Applications are welcomed from any students who are planning on undertaking an expedition and meet the required criteria. Applications are assessed on a first come, first served basis, but priority is given to those who have not previously received funding from the bequest before.
Eligible students can email stufunds@soton.ac.uk and request an application form. Please ensure you complete the application as fully as possible and provide all the supporting documentation required.
All students will be notified by email whether they are successful or not.
The Placement Support Fund has now closed for the 24/25 academic year.
