Catherine de Haas is a PhD student based in the School of Education at the ÃÛÌÒTV. Catherine's research explores the experiences of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities alongside thier families in their own communities.
Catherine de Haas' research considers how community is experienced by people with PMLD alongside thier families and uses an ethnographic approach.
Catherine worked as a speech and language therapist for 23 years, and briefly as a deafblind communicator guide. She has an MSc in PMLD. Her daughter, Johanna lived with PMLD for 31 years. Johanna lived at home her entire life.
