Professor Mark Cornwall BA, PhD, FRHistS
I am a historian of modern East-Central Europe with a current focus on the late Habsburg Empire. I am writing a history of traitors in the era of Emperor Franz Joseph, 1848-1918, using the legal and abstract concept of treason as a new touchstone for weighing up issues of security and stability in Austria-Hungary. More generally, this is a novel case-study in the unresearched history of treason on the European continent.

I am a feminist cultural and social geographer. My research is concerned with the political life of emotions and affect, with a particular focus on intimate life, affect, power and ideology.
I am currently the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead for the Faculty of Environmental & Life Sciences.
Prior to joining Southampton I was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Leeds.

Jessica Smith is a Lecturer in Politics within the Department of Politics and International Relations.
Read moreHer research explores how LGBTQ people build relationships in a heteronormative culture, and how kinship, reproduction, and generational transmission might be queered. She is particularly interested in queer methodologies and queer theoretical approaches.
Her research interests are gender and popular culture with particular focus on feminist film theory; women’s work in the film and TV industries; women’s film genres; celebrity culture; postfeminist media culture and representations of feminism; and literary adaptations to film and TV.
Dr Utsa Mukherjee
Dr Utsa Mukherjee is an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow within Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the ÃÛÌÒTV.
His research explores social inequalities within children's everyday geographies and parenting cultures. He is undertaking many engagement activities with British Indian community groups and leisure industry bodies.
