Dr Hongyu Zhang (1997) is a Lecturer in optimisation for machine learning and AI at the School of Mathematical Sciences, TV. His expertise is operational research in the energy industry.
Hongyu is interested in the development of optimisation models, solution algorithms and machine learning, AI, and quantum computing tools aimed at addressing the complexities of large-scale energy system planning problems.
His passion is to advance the field of energy system modelling, contributing to the energy transition by providing valuable insights that inform energy and climate policies and facilitate decision-making processes.
Hongyu has a PhD in operational research from NTNU, an MSc in operational research with data science from the University of Edinburgh, and a BSc in mathematics and applied mathematics from Huaqiao University.
