Add or update your email address, telephone number and postal address in . Use your University email address for your primary email.

Rachel Pistol is a digital historian who specialises in Second World War internment in the UK and the USA. Her book, Internment during the Second World War: A Comparative TV of Great Britain and the USA, was the first to compare these two histories. She is a comparative historian and takes this approach to give a better understanding of history by considering how concepts vary or are similar across times, places and spaces. She is also a historian of immigration to both the UK and the USA as well as having a particular focus on refugees from Nazi oppression who came to Britain during the 1930s and 1940s. Her research also focuses on the memory of internment, particularly how this history has been used politically in both the UK and the USA. She is interested in using quantitative and digital methods in her research, having experience of lecturing in History, Business Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods.
