Dr Fei Wang is a Lecturer in Gerontology based in the Department of Gerontology at the ÃÛÌÒTV. In this capacity, she plays a pivotal role co-convening key modules in the department, including GERO6022 Poverty and Social Protection around the World; GERO6014 Quantitative Research Methods and GERO6025 Policy Evaluation for Ageing Societies, among others. Additionally, she shoulders responsibilities as the PGR Forum coordinator and as the ATHENA SWAN SAT Committee Representative.
Dr Fei Wang 's present research endeavours delve into the multifaceted dimensions of ageing. Particularly, her analysis leans heavily on understanding the relationship between various intergenerational supports and the well-being of people aged 60 and above. She seeks to uncover the nuanced impact of social determinants on the lives and well-being of these older people, thereby contributing valuable insights that could reshape policy interventions.
In the academic area, Dr Fei Wang imparts knowledge on a broad spectrum of modules both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With a knack for quantitative data analysis, she has tutored students at The University of Edinburgh, emphasising the statistical methodologies. Modules like GERO6014 Quantitative Research Methods and GERO6025 Policy Evaluation for Ageing Societies are a few among the many that benefit from her expertise and pedagogical approach.
Dr Fei Wang joined the ÃÛÌÒTV recently. Holding a PhD in Social Policy, her research illuminated the well-being dynamics of older women, especially focusing on the interplay between living arrangements and well-being. This was preceded by a Master of Science in Social Research, where she explored gender biases in employment scenarios. Before embarking on postgraduate studies, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Central China Normal University in Wuhan, China. After completing her PhD, she took an active role in a pivotal research project sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association/Alzheimer’s Society UK/Global Brain Health Institute. This project concentrated on public financing of home care and its wide-ranging implications for older people with dementia.
