Upload your profile photo in . Your profile photo in Pure is not linked to your public staff profile. Choose a clear, recent headshot where you are easily recognisable. Your image should be at least 340 by 395 pixels. 

Name 
To change your name or prefix title contact   If you want to update an academic title you'll need to provide evidence e.g. a PhD certificate. The way your name is displayed is automatic and cannot be changed. You can also update your post-nominal letters in .

Research interests (for researchers only) 
Add up to 5 research interests. The first 3 will appear in your staff profile next to your name. The full list will appear on your research page. Keep these brief and focus on the keywords people may use when searching for your work. Use a different line for each one.

In , select ‘Edit profile’. Under the heading 'Curriculum and research description', select 'Add profile information'. In the dropdown menu, select 'Research interests: use separate lines'.

Add or update your email address, telephone number and postal address in . Use your University email address for your primary email. 

You can link to your Google Scholar, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts through . Select ‘Edit profile’.  In the 'Links' section, use the 'Add link' button. 

ORCID ID 
Create or connect your ORCID ID in . Select ‘Edit profile’ and then 'Create or Connect your ORCID ID'.

Choose to show whether you’re currently accepting PhD applicants or not in . Select ‘Edit profile’. In the 'Portal details' section, select 'Yes' or 'No' to indicate your choice.

Geoff Merrett is Professor of Electronic and Software Systems at the TV. He is Head of the , a strategic  in the  (ECS), and Co-Director of the , an  industrial partnership between  and . He received the BEng (1st, Hons) and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering from Southampton in 2004 and 2009 respectively. He was appointed as a Lecturer shortly after, promoted to Associate Professor in 2014, and Professor in 2019. He is a Senior Member of the , a Member of , and a Fellow of the .

Professor Merrett has served on the  (SAT) for the  since 2019, advising  on new research areas and strategy. He is a member of the  Steering Group (an EPSRC-funded network representing the UK’s electronic systems academic community), having previously served on its ECR Steering Group, and co-manages the UK’s  (co-organising its annual event from 2011-2016). He is a member of  and the , and also reviews proposals for Italy’s  (serving on , the Register of Expert Peer-Reviewers for Italian Scientific Evaluation) and the . He is an active reviewer for a number of prestigious international journals, and serves on a number of TPCs for international conferences (e.g. Track Chair at DATE2023). He was a founder of the  (ENSsys, co-located with the  conference), serving as General Chair from 2013-15, and on its steering/organisation committees since 2016. He is a member of the Editorial Board for , and previously served as an Associate Editor for  and . He has been guest editor for special issues on , , , and . He co-edited the IET book on , containing  contributed by leading international researchers.

He currently leads a team of , having previously graduated  and line-managed  and . The quality of his PhD students has been externally recognised, for example winning the University's  competition in 2015, receiving Silver at , receiving the Gold Medal at Malaysia's , and winning the Best of Faculty award at the University's . He has been external examiner for 16 PhD theses, including students at Imperial College London, ETH Zurich, TU Delft, TU Dresden, Bologna, Newcastle, and York.
