In alignment with the University's policy on inclusion and respectful behaviour, the School of Geography and Environmental Science is committed to our inclusive and welcoming environment. Our School is a diverse community and committed to addressing inequality; our bronze Athena SWAN award, recognises our commitment.
Within the School, we have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee. This group seeks to embed and support the values of equality, diversity and inclusion across the School. The EDI group seeks to achieve equality, foster a culture of respect and to identify and tackle barriers to inclusion.
Our EDI group provides guidance on all aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion issues in the School, particularly in relation to protected and recognised characteristics (around age, gender identity, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief, gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic backgroud).Ìý
It is important for us to consult with our staff and students to identify what our priorities for equality, diversity and inclusion are, and we actively seek views from across our School. We can also help if you have any questions or issues relating to equality, diversity and inclusion.
ÌýIf there is something you would like to tell us regarding equality, diversity and inclusion in the School, please do get in touch. We hope that the School is a welcoming place for everyone, and suggestions or comments are always valued.
This formÌýallows you to send your comments to the chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee anonymously.
You can also contact your EDI representative (see below) directly; we will always treat any communication with confidentiality and respect.
